Former Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg midfielder Diego Ribas has revealed he received offers from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, before choosing Juventus.
Speaking in an interview with SportBild, the then Werder Bremen playmaker said he was in negotiations with the two European giants, but chose Juventus because of the number of Brazilians playing in Italy.
“Back then I had a dream offer from Bayern – it was even better than the one from Juventus. And even Real Madrid wanted me. We had talks,” said Diego.
“Juventus contacted me three times at the end of my seasons in the Bundesliga and everyone, from Ronaldo to the Brazilians already playing there, raved about Juve and the football in Italy.”
Diego spent three seasons at Werder Bremen before joining Juventus for one season, before moving back to Germany with Wolfsburg. The Brazilian is currently playing for Flamengo.
