AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has confirmed the Italian club are still interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Renato Sanches.
“I’ve known him since his Benfica days. He’s a great player and we’ve got a great relationship with Bayern. I cannot exclude that this is a move that we could think about making,” Mirabelli told Mediaset.
Reports last week in Portugal suggested that Milan would acquire Sanches via a two-year loan, before making a permanent €47 million transfer.
However, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge doesn’t believe Milan are willing to meet the price tag set by the Bundesliga club.
“However, I have to say we haven’t made any progress since they made contact in the middle of last week. If you want to loan a player from Bayern Munich there are obviously financial aspects to any deal,” Rummenigge via ESPN.
“At any rate, I have the impression that AC Milan isn’t ready to meet our financial requirements and as long as that’s the case nothing will happen.”
