1. FC Köln appeal against their UEFA charges

1. FC Köln will appeal against UEFA’s charges on the club following incidents that took place in their Europa League tie against Arsenal in September.

The Bundesliga club were fined €60,000 while receiving a spectator ban – with the latter holding a probationary period of two years.

“Even after a detailed analysis of the verdict, it is incomprehensible to us that the misconduct of a small minority of fans should lead to such a drastic punishment against the club,” said managing director Alexander Werhle in a statement on the club’s website.

“We believe that our fans, as they did against BATE Borisov and against Arsenal FC, will not give anyone any reason to revoke their probation before the final group match in the UEFA Europa League at Red Star Belgrade on 7 December.”
