Bundesliga Konferenz Matchday 11 Wrap-up

With five Bundesliga matches taking place in the early timeslot, it can be tricky to keep track of all the action. That’s why we made Jack Grimse do it! Here’s his recap…

1. FSV Mainz 05 4-2 SC Freiburg

Mainz took the lead just 15 minutes into the match when captain Niko Bungert scored for the first time all season. Just three minutes later, Jhon Cordoba was brought down for a penalty. Yunus Malli had to take it twice, but was able to convert and make it 2-0. Vincenzo Grifo gave Freiburg hope, chipping the goalkeeper in fantastic fashion. Stefan Bell and Nils Petersen added late goals, and Mainz added another in stoppage time.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-2 1. FC Köln

Lars Stindl did what he does best, finishing a scrappy chance from inside the area to give Gladbach the lead in the first half. Right around the hour mark Anthony Modeste scored his 12th goal of the season, bringing Cologne back level. Then, in stoppage time, Marcel Risse hit a dipping effort after a short lay-off from a free kick that beat Yann Sommer and won the Rhein Derby for Köln!

Darmstadt 0-1 Ingolstadt

Ingolstadt finally have won a match this season! And it was an away match! Everyone will be thanking striker Moritz Hartmann, who scored his first goal all season to secure the three points. This was the first time Ingolstadt have won on the road in the Bundesliga since 19 September 2015, 427 days ago!

FC Augsburg 0-0 Hertha Berlin

Technically this game happened. Both sides will probably be content with a point.

Wolfsburg 0-1 Schalke 04

Leon Goretzka got the winner for schalke just eight minutes from time. The Schalke midfielder smashed a volley straight into the turf, but it was on target and bounced into the net past Wolfsburg’s Diego Benaglio.
