Tottenham Hotspur have rejected an opening approach from Brighton and Hove Albion for Croatian defender Luka Vušković (19), according to a report by Florian Plettenberg.
The Seagulls are expected to go in with another offer after seeing their opening €35m bid immediately rejected for Vušković – who was named in Get German Football News’ Team of the Season and was crowned Young Player of the Season after enjoying a breakout 2025/26 campaign at Hamburg – who has a verbal agreement with the south coast club.
Vušković certainly isn’t short of options, either. The Croatian was expected to sign a new contract at Tottenham before joining Hamburg on loan for the 2026/27 season, according to The Independent, but Brighton – who rejected Tottenham’s offer for Jan Paul van Hecke – now appear to be pushing hard for a transfer.
A defensive pillar, Vušković – a newly established leader – broke the Bundesliga record for aerial duels won in a single match with 18 away to Union Berlin, and finished the season as Hamburg’s second top scorer in the Bundesliga – behind fellow North London loanee Fabio Vieira.
