Sky Germany has reported that Newcastle United have shown an interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas.
The Premier League side have already begun offloading key players this summer as a rebuild gets underway. As a result, the Magpies are reportedly eyeing up a €12m offer for Gladbach’s number one.
As Sky Germany clarifies, Newcastle are yet to formally submit an offer to Gladbach for the 28-year-old shot-stopper.
Nicolas’ contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach runs until 2029, and did include a clause for this summer in case of a transfer. However, this has since expired, meaning that the Bundesliga side are fee to negotiate a price for their number one.
Last season, Nicolas played in all of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 37 competitive games, always playing a full 90-minutes. What’s more, Nicolas made the most saves of any goalkeeper in the Bundesliga last term.
According to TransferMarkt, Nicolas’ current transfer value is just €8m.
