The 18-year-old talent already maintains an estimated €27m value in the latest Transfermarkt listings. In his new working papers – valid until 2031 – it is anticipated that the teenager’s market value will continue to rise exponentially.
Sport Bild claims that De Cat may potentially leave Hoffenheim one day via a €70m release clause. The former Anderlecht professional’s estimated market value stood at €7m less than a year ago. His rapid rise reflects both his development in Belgium and the considerable expectations attached to his Bundesliga move.
Should the young defensive midfielder perform well in Germany, interest from wealthier European clubs will inevitably follow. Hoffenheim have nevertheless protected themselves against losing another valuable prospect for a modest fee.
An expensive departure as early as next summer could therefore become a realistic possibility if De Cat adapts quickly and establishes himself as a regular starter.
