Less than 48 hours after Crystal Palace’s UEFA Conference League triumph, Bayer Leverkusen will hold a meeting with Oliver Glasner as their search for a new head coach continues. It comes after die Werkself missed out on Champions League for the upcoming season after finishing 2025/26 in fifth as a result of just five wins in their final 13 Bundesliga games.
It was previously reported that Filipe Luís was their top priority, but the Brazilian coach, who was dismissed by Flamengo in March, is in line to become the next AS Monaco manager. Sky Germany did note that Leverkusen had two other candidates, and it now appears that Glasner is one of them.
According to a report by Bild, talks between Bayer and Glasner’s agent are already under way, with a formal meeting between the club and Austrian expected to take place on Friday. Discussions between all parties aren’t new, either. Bild note that CEO Fernando Carro and sporting director Simon Rolfes held discussions with the Glasner years ago, likely before the appointment of Xabi Alonso in 2022, when he was at Eintracht Frankfurt.
