Eintracht Frankfurt’s 31-year-old goalkeeper Michael Zetterer has edged closer to a move to English Premier League side Leeds United. According to Sky Germany, the two clubs have reached an agreement for a permanent deal worth around €5m.
Zetterer is now negotiating with Leeds on personal terms, but an agreement is yet to be reached, according to the report. Leeds want the German keeper to be their number two after the departure of Lucas Perri, who joined Serie A side Torino.
The club’s manager Daniel Farke was not willing to confirm the transfer activity when asked during his pre-match press conference before his side hosts Brentford in the league on Sunday. “You can speak about it once everything is done. It is correct that we are close to bringing someone in. Before everything is signed, I am not willing to comment,” he stated.
Zetterer has made 22 league appearances for Eintracht so far and has featured for Germany’s U20 and U21 sides. Eintracht have already signed Noah Atubolu from Freiburg in an initial loan deal as a replacement.
