After Julian Nagelsmann left his role as German national team head coach, former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is reportedly the favourite to take charge. In the statement regarding Nagelsmann’s departure, the DFB stated that they will seek talks with Klopp.
Klopp has previously stated that it is not the time to talk about the management role after Germany were beaten on penalties by Paraguay in the last 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has been working with Red Bull as Head of global soccer since January 2024 and stated that he likes his job very much, and that it is not a part time one.
After failing in the group stages of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, Germany were unable to win in the last 32 this year. This means that the four time World Champions are without a knockout win in the World Cup since 2014.
Many hope that Klopp will create a positive atmosphere and a winning mentality for a side that seems to have lost its way but a few argue that changing managers alone isn’t going to be enough to revive Die Nationalelf.
