Kicker reports that Stuttgart and German national team winger Jamie Leweling remains thoroughly disinterested in joining Bournemouth. The now six-times-capped German international has rejected interest from the Cherries before. Kicker claims that the fact that German head coach Marco Rose will be coaching the souther English side next season has done nothing to shift the 25-year-old’s stance.

Leweling – like Stuttgart teammate Josha Vagnoman – is expected to play a crucial role for Stuttgart this season. The Württemberger prepare to return to the Champions League following a one-year-absence. Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß has made it abundantly clear that he will count upon the club’s front office to deliver him the strongest possible squad.
This does not necessarily mean that Stuttgart are not open to selling some players. As was the case in 2023 (Wataru Endo and Konstantinos Mavropanos), 2024 (HirokiIto, Serhou Guirassy, and Waldemar Anton) and last autumn (Nick Woltemade and Enzo Millot), Hoeneß’ stated desire to keep his best players has not resulted in them actually remaining with the club.
Stuttgart carry a 36-man-squad into the start of competitive play; a number considered far too large even for a Bundesliga club contesting the Champions League. With an estimated market value of €40m, Leweling is the second most valuable player on the VfB squad behind his €45m-valued German national team colleague Angelo Stiller.
The €15m permanent purchase of Leicester City attacker Bilal El Khannouss leaves Stuttgart running a summer transfer deficit of approximately €16.2m. Even if Leweling isn’t directly interested in Bournemouth, a move to the Premier League may still be in the cards.
