Borussia Mönchengladbach face an anxious wait over the fitness of Daiki Hashioka. The Japanese defender was taken directly to hospital following Saturday’s 3-0 Bundesliga defeat against RB Leipzig. Hashioka was involved in a heavy collision with Leipzig attacker Antonio Nusa in the second half. The 26-year-old required lengthy treatment before being substituted and was subsequently transported to Leipzig University Hospital for further examinations.
According to Kicker, Gladbach are investigating whether Hashioka may have suffered an injury to the cervical spine. His neck was immobilized and stabilized as a precaution.
“We don’t know anything yet,” sporting director Rouven Schröder said after the match. “He has now been taken to the university hospital. You have to be very careful when that area is affected.”
Hashioka injury may alter Gladbach’s transfer plans

“Joe responded very well,” Schröder said of the USMNT international. “As soon as he came on, he was right in the game.”
