Cologne’s Mikey Moore has plenty of derby experience, having played in the Old Firm for Rangers against Celtic, and the north London derby between parent club Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal. Now, though, the youngster is gearing up for his first Rhein derby when the Billy Goats host bottom side Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Captaining England U20s team to wins against Italy and France, providing a goal and assist, Moore is relishing Sunday’s derby. “We’ve talked a lot about how important this game is. I’m really looking forward to it,” he told the club’s official website.
Drawing on past derby experience, Moore added: “I’ve already had the opportunity to play in some big derbies. That will help me.”
However, Cologne will be without attackers Thijs Dallinga and Ragnar Ache, who suffered injuries during the international break. “It’s a big loss,” explained Moore. “We now have to distribute the responsibility among different players.”
