Borussia Dortmund were minutes away from equalling their best start to a Bundesliga season – five wins in a row – but late strikes from Ludovit Reis and Niclas Füllkrug secured Werder Bremen a share of the spoils at the Signal Iduna Park.
Speaking in the mixed zone after Dortmund’s draw, Waldemar Anton said: “After going 2-0 up, we stopped sticking to our game play and, to be honest, our defence wasn’t good. We committed fouls where we were simply too late, which is incredibly frustrating.
“The draw shouldn’t have happened because we actually had the game under control. In the end, we only got one point. We’ll not work to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
With both teams level at the break, goals from Daniel Svensson and Nico Schlotterbeck in a five-minute spell put Die Schwarzgelben into a comfortable lead after finally breaking through Bremen’s resilient defence. But with a history of coming from back two goals down in Dortmund, Werder again did the unthinkable with Reis (88′) kickstarting the come back before Füllkrug’s (90’+3) thumping header.
