All Change At Frankfurt: Could More Be Out The Door Following Riera’s Sacking?

Eintracht Frankfurt had a disappointing 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign. The team finished eighth in the table, missing out on European football. Earlier in the season, they had been involved in the UEFA Champions League, playing in the Group Phase (albeit with one win, one draw, and six defeats).

This summer will be a big rebuilding effort by Die Adler, as they were simply off the pace for long periods of the campaign. That was evident when they decided to sack Dino Toppmöller in January, with the club claiming “we have not lived up to the ethos of Eintracht Frankfurt standing for dynamic, aggressive and compact football.”

Albert Riera was brought in in February to try and turn around the club’s fortunes, but after 14 games and being booed off the pitch during his side’s 2-2 draw against Stuttgart in the season finale, Frankfurt find themselves looking for a new manager. Indeed, winning only four of his 14 games and having a high-profile spat with top goalscorer, Jonathan Burkardt, went far against him.

It’s an interesting role and one that will likely have many candidates. It’ll be something that will interest bettors because of the job that is on offer and the names that will likely be in consideration, especially as soccer betting continues to be among one of the most popular activities to gamble on for players. However, who gets the top job at the Deutsche Bank Park remains to be seen.

That new manager may have to be without a key player moving forward, too. Reports are beginning to circulate suggesting Bayern Munich are in town and are looking at one of their stars in Nathaniel Brown. The left-back has reportedly become an option the Bavarians are considering due to the continued injury problems being experienced by Alphonso Davies.

Brown had a standout year for Frankfurt this season, with the defender netting four goals and providing six assists across 42 matches in all competitions. A Germany international, he’ll be hoping he has done enough to be in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad list for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer. If he is, he could be returning to Germany after the Finals in North America at a completely new club.

The 22-year-old is believed to be rated highly by the Bundesliga champions as a potential option. It has been claimed their scouting department have already been left impressed with his playing abilities, and many feel he could be the answer to their Davies problem.

It’s understood that interest from Bayern Munich in Brown isn’t anything new, with it having been held in 2025. At the time, Frankfurt were understood to have wanted around €60 million for him, but after impressing throughout the season, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they tried to receive even more for him. They signed Brown from 1. FC Nürnberg in 2024.

Perhaps worse (or better) for Frankfurt, Brown is thought to have significant interest from big clubs all around Europe. Reports have claimed that Real Madrid have been interested, although that remains to be seen now they are expected to have Jose Mourinho in charge. Other reports have suggested Liverpool, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs.
