As reported via FT, Wolfsburg are set to sign the promising French talent, Mathys Angely.
The 17-year-old was a member of the Girondins de Bordeaux team last season, featuring five times in Ligue 2.
However, the French side have since withdrawn their professional status due to ongoing financial issues, as covered by our colleagues at Get French Football News.
This has led to the termination of all player contracts, meaning that the whole squad left the club as free agents.
As stated in the report, Wolfsburg are set to exploit this by signing Angely on a free transfer, who had previously been linked with a move to Liverpool.
It is believed that the Frenchman will undergo a medical shortly before being announced as the club’s latest signing.
Nevertheless, it is a transfer that, for some, will not sit right, as Bordeaux’s financial downfall could have been cushioned by a transfer fee for the player this summer.
Regardless, Angely is expected to join the Wolfsburg first team this season as he looks to establish himself as one of Europe’s most promising young talents.
This could also signal a possible departure for Maxence Lacroix, who has been linked with Crystal Palace in recent weeks.
