Summer move not ruled out for Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt amid Manchester United interest

As reported by Sky Germany, Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt (24) isn’t 100% satisfied with his situation at the Rekordmeister after falling behind to Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano.

The Dutchman has played just 365 minutes across nine Bundesliga games this season for Bayern Munich, and has missed a further six league games through injury. Upamecano and Kim appears to be the preferred partnership by Thomas Tuchel, while the recruitment team are also working on a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Nordi Mukiele after missing out on Radu Drăgușin, who joined Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United monitor De Ligt’s situation

Per Sky, De Ligt doesn’t want to leave Bayern Munich in the winter transfer window but if his situation doesn’t improve, a summer departure may be conceivable, more so if a new defender arrives at the Allianz Arena, with Bayern actively showing an interest in Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo.

As such, Erik ten Hag, who coached De Ligt at Ajax between 2017 and 2019, is showing an interest in bringing his former player to Manchester United, should he remain there beyond the summer.
