Stuttgart suffer Deniz Undav injury blow

Stuttgart today confirmed that Deniz Undav (27) suffered a muscular injury to his left thigh against Darmstadt on Saturday, with the German expected to be sidelined for the remainder of February.

It’s a huge blow for Stuttgart as they sit just four points behind second-placed Bayern Munich. Undav is VfB’s second top scorer in the Bundesliga this season with 14 goals and five assists in 19 league games, second to Guirassy (18 goals and one assist in 16 league games).

Stuttgart further added that Undav will miss the game against FC Köln but may recover in time for their trip to Wolfsburg on March 2.

Stuttgart continue to shine in the Bundesliga

Bayer Leverkusen may be leading the Bundesliga by eight points, but there’s no doubt that Stuttgart are the surprise package here. Sebastian Hoeneß has done a magnificent job as he looks to bring Champions League football back to Stuttgart for the first time since the 2009/10 season.

Guirassy and Undav have scored 32 of Stuttgart’s 51 Bundesliga goals this season, but credit must also be given to Chris Führich and Enzo Millot. The quartet, alongside Alexander Nübel, Hirko Ito and Waldemar Anton have been key to Stuttgart’s on the field success this season.
