Signs point towards Assan Ouédraogo joining RB Leipzig in the summer

Sport Bild reports that the signs point towards Schalke’s biggest prospect Assan Ouédraogo joining RB Leipzig in the summer.

The midfielder has a release clause said to be worth €15m which is active in the summer. Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich have made bids for the 17-year-old, but a move to Leipzig in the summer is the most likely option.

Ouédraogo has already met with Bayern but turned down the club due to the lack of opportunities in the squad and the tough competition in midfield. This is the opposite of Leipzig where Ouédraogo believes that he has the best opportunity to develop at the club.

The Saxony club have a proven track record of developing youngsters, whilst Bayern are not as consistent.

Another key reason behind the move is the fact that former Schalke sporting director, Rouven Schröder is also at Leipzig as their sporting director. Schröder was the person who added the release clause in Ouédraogo’s contract for when he turns 18.
