Sehrou Guirassy wins Bundesliga Player of the Month for March

The Bundesliga has announced that VfB Stuttgart striker Sehrou Guirassy has won the Bundesliga Player of the Month for March.

Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and David Raum as well as Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo were also nominated for the award. This is Guirassy’s second Player of the Month award after winning it for the first time back in September.

The month of March saw Guirassy return to form after experiencing a downturn upon returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. In Stuttgart’s four games in March, Guirassy scored five goals. Two against Wolfsburg, and one apiece against Union Berlin, Hoffenheim and Heidenheim.

The 28-year-old is currently on 25 goals this season which is a Stuttgart record for most Bundesliga goals in a season, surpassing Mario Gomez. If it were not for his injury as well as AFCON participation, Guirassy could of been level on goals with Harry Kane, or even challenging to break Robert Lewandowski’s goal record.

Stuttgart are currently third in the Bundesliga, level on points with Bayern Munich, and look certain to qualify for the Champions League.
