Rocco Reitz has release clause valid in 2026 in recently signed contract

Sport Bild (via 90min) reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz has a release clause in his contract that is valid in 2026.

The midfielder recently signed his second contract extension at the club until 2028 earlier this month and a release clause has been inserted into the contract.

The clause is valid from 2026 and is valued at a low double-digit million fee. Reitz’s recent contract extension also included a pay rise to €2m a year.

What this means is that Gladbach could once again lose one of their key players in the future. It is suggested that if Reitz continues his development he will be valued at a figure that is worth a lot more than the release clause and if Gladbach cannot convince him to sign another contract extension, then they will once again lose another player for a low fee.

The situation would be worse with Reitz as he is a player who could be a key part of midfield for a very long time. It is also a big bonus that he is not only a product of the Gladbach academy but also a fan of the club.

This is a common occurrence at Gladbach as they lost Marcus Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini on a free transfer in the summer. While over the years, Denis Zakaria, Breel Embolo and Jonas Hofmann have all been sold for fees lower than they should have attracted.
