RB Leipzig look for potential replacements for Mohamed Simakan and Xavi Simons

Sport Bild reports that RB Leipzig are looking for potential replacements for Mohamed Simakan and Xavi Simons heading into the summer window.

Simakan has become dissatisfied with continuously being used as a right-back as he would prefer to be used centrally. It is reported that his advisors are already looking for new clubs. However, only in December did the Frenchman express how comfortable he was at Leipzig.

The future of Benjamin Henrichs is also up in the air as he enters the last year of his contract in the summer. This has resulted in Leipzig turning to Freiburg’s Kilian Sildillia. The 21-year-old is versatile and can play centrally and on the right of defence. However, he is more defensive-minded compared to Henrichs. Girona’s Arnau Martínez is also an option for Leipzig.

Finally, Leipzig are preparing for the departure of Xavi Simons upon the completion of his loan at the end of the season. The 20-year-old has been a revelation since joining from PSG having scored five goals and seven assists in 20 Bundesliga games.

Leipzig view Genk’s Bilal El Khannous as Simons’ replacement. The 19-year-old is also versatile and was an option for Leipzig in December. The potential fee for El Khannous would likely be around €35m.
