Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Atletico Madrid: Jadon Sancho to return?

After missing Borussia Dortmund’s game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, Jadon Sancho returned to training after recovering from an illness. But there is some bad news for BVB ahead of their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid at the Westfalenstadion on Tuesday night.

Sébastien Haller is sidelined with an ankle. The Ivorian made his first start for Dortmund at the weekend after recovering from an ankle injury, but the 29-year-old lasted just nine minutes after taking a knock following a dual with Nico Elvedi. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens was also replaced on Saturday after back complaints. RN report that the Englishman worked individually in the gym on Monday but whether he is fit or not remains to be seen.

The same can be said for Donyell Malen. The Dutchman featured against Gladbach but has been complaining of a knee problem. If the 25-year-old isn’t fit enough to play, expect Sancho and Karim Adeyemi to start in the wide areas, with Julian Brandt playing centrally behind Niclas Füllkrug.

Defensively, Julian Ryerson and Mats Hummels should return to the starting lineup ahead of Marius Wolf and Niklas Süle.

Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Atletico Madrid

Gregor Kobel – Julian Ryerson, Mats Hummels, Nico Schlotterbeck, Ian Maatsen – Emre Can, Marcel Sabitzer – Donyell Malen, Julian Brandt, Jadon Sancho – Niclas Füllkrug.
