PLAYER RATINGS | Darmstadt 2-5 Bayern Munich: Jamal Musiala shines

Bayern Munich moved to within seven points of leaders Bayer Leverkusen despite going behind to Darmstadt on Saturday afternoon. The hosts took the lead just before the hour mark through Tim Skarke but goals from Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane put Thomas Tuchel’s side into the lead heading into the break.

It would be Kane’s 31st Bundesliga goal of the season, a record for any player in their debut season in the German top flight. Not only that, the Englishman has never scored more than 30 league goals in a single league season in his career, until now.

Musiala then added a second to give Bayern some breathing room before goals from Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel put the game beyond doubt in the final 15 minutes. Oscar Vilhelmsson then scored a consolation for Darmstadt, who prop up the Bundesliga table.

As for Musiala, his brace takes him to 10 Bundesliga goals this season, while his assist for Gnabry is his sixth of the campaign, meaning the 21-year-old wunderkind has 16 goal contributions in 21 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich this season.

Against Darmstadt, Musiala, per FotMob, created nine chances, had 25 touches in the opposition box, completed 79% of his dribbles (11/14) and also won 15 duels.

Although Bayern Munich have moved to within seven points of Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso’s side face Freiburg tomorrow afternoon.
