Other Bundesliga clubs showed an interest in Mahmoud Dahoud before loan to VfB Stuttgart

Bild reports that other Bundesliga clubs were interested in Mahmoud Dahoud before he sealed his deadline-day move to VfB Stuttgart.

Clubs from Italy, Saudi Arabia and Turkey all showed interest in the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, however in the Bundesliga it was Eintracht Frankfurt and former club Borussia Mönchengladbach who also showed an interest in the 28-year-old.

A return to Gladbach would not make any sense with the current make-up of the squad as Gladbach has already struggled to play Florian Neuhaus, whilst a move for Dahoud would have also hindered the development of Rocco Reitz.

In contrast, Frankfurt would make slightly more sense as they look to add midfield depth as they also juggle European football. Dahoud would have likely been rotated with either Hugo Larsson, Ellyes Skhiri or January signing Donny van de Beek.

There is also a purchase option in the loan agreement with Dahoud said to be worth €10m but the clause is not exclusive to Stuttgart and other clubs can make use of said clause.
