Official | Eintracht Frankfurt activate buy option to make Hugo Ekitke’s loan move permanent

Eintracht Frankfurt have announced that they have activated the buy option in Hugo Ekitike’s loan agreement making his move from PSG permanent.

The deal is said to be worth around €16.5m and the 21-year-old will sign a contract at the club until 2029. On why the club decided to activate the deal, sporting director Markus Krösche said: “Hugo has indicated in his previous assignments what quality he has. We are firmly convinced of his great potential and look forward to seeing him in the Eintracht jersey beyond the current season.”

Since joining from PSG on loan in the winter, Ekitike has struggled with his fitness and form during his first few months at Frankfurt. Last weekend the striker scored his first goal for the club in a 3-1 win against Augsburg.

The completion of this move now means Frankfurt’s striker problems have been solved. Since selling Randal Kolo Muani to PSG in the summer, Frankfurt has had to heavily rely upon Omar Marmoush as their main striking option. Now the arrival of Ekitike as well as loanee Igor Matanovic from Karlsruhe, means Frankfurt have several striking options going into next season.
