Mathys Tel influenced Sacha Boey to join Bayern Munich

Sacha Boey (23) was unveiled as a Bayern Munich player on Tuesday afternoon. The Frenchman completed his first training session in the morning, before taking questions from the media where he discussed a vast array of topics, including how compatriot Mathys Tel influenced his decision.

“Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I’d have come to Bayern regardless, but it helps that there’s a few players that I know, like Mathys Tel. Mathys told me that Bayern is one of the best clubs and that we want to win everything. That obviously influenced me.” – Boey.

Boey strolled onto the training pitches at Bayern’s Säbener Straße to chants of his name from the small number of public that were in attendance.

The French right-back completed his move to Bayern Munich for €30m on Saturday, and will add significant strength to what’s been a problem area for the Rekordmeister.

Noussair Mazraoui is currently away on international duty with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Konrad Laimer – who is currently injured – has deputised. Both factors combined forced Bayern into entering the market to strengthen at right-back.

During his two years at Galatasaray, Boey played 83 games across all competitions, including 31 games this season.
