According to El Partidazo de COPE, İlkay Gündoğan’s exit from Barcelona to Manchester City will not be enough to register Dani Olmo at the club.
It had previously been reported that the Spanish side were struggling to register the former RB Leipzig midfielder after his €55 million move from the Bundesliga.
This has caused the 26-year-old to miss the start of the new La Liga campaign, in which the Blaugrana defeated Valencia 2-1 at the Mestalla Stadium.
It was understood that Barcelona were in need of selling a key asset in order to register Olmo as soon as possible, but despite Gündoğan’s departure, Hansi Flick’s side are in need of further finances.
Nevertheless, with the club looking to strike a new deal with Nike in the coming days, which would see their annual income from the deal rise above the current €60 million agreement, there is optimism that Olmo will be able to make his debut before the international break.
However, while Nike are unwilling to match Barca’s €100 million demand, it is believed that both parties are close to finding an agreement.
