Taking his game to a whole new level in the Premier League at title contenders Arsenal and becoming somewhat of a unique entity in the striker’s role, the German national side have got a real talent on their hands in Kai Havertz.
A player who has already achieved so much in the game at the age of 25, it looks like the best years could even be ahead of the man from Aachen.
Arteta Bringing Out the Best From Havertz
Challenging for the Premier League title over the last couple of seasons under manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have come on leaps and bounds and Havertz has developed along with the side in the last 12 months. Arsenal, who 13/10 with a Premier League bet to win the title this season, splashed the cash to land the Germany international from London rivals Chelsea in June 2023. Chelsea, who are 22/1 in the Premier League winner odds, raised plenty of eyebrows by allowing such a talented player such as Havertz to make the move across the English capital. The hierarchy at Stamford Bridge might well be regretting the decision to let this quality player join an Arsenal side that look capable of pushing for major silverware again this season.
While Havertz made the move to the Gunners as an attacking midfielder, it’s in his new role under Spanish tactician Arteta as a central striker that the former Bayer Leverkusen star has been earning many plaudits. A player who is not afraid to rough up defenders and has the physical capacity to be effective in that regard, Havertz is well suited to life in the English top flight. Combined with his physical presence, Havertz’s technical ability and proficiency with both feet has made him a real handful for defenders in the Premier League. With 20 goal contributions in the league last season, Havertz is quickly becoming one of the best strikers in Europe.
Germany Can Reap the Rewards
Looking for the next Oliver Bierhoff or Miroslav Klose, Germany have been searching for a central figure that can spearhead the attack for Die Mannschaft for years to come. Blessed with a number of attacking midfielders already, Arteta’s decision to make Havertz a central striker has come at the perfect time for the German national side.
There were positive signs from Havertz at Euro 2024, as the Arsenal star impressed as Germany finished top of Group A to progress through to the knockout stages. Germany’s journey in their home competition was to end with defeat to eventual winners Spain in the quarter-finals but there were signs of improvement from Die Mannschaft after some disappointing major tournaments of late.
Havertz will only continue to grow into his new role at the top of the field and his club and country should feel the benefits. A powerful player who has been described as a “Rolls Royce”, Havertz has the potential to be a driving force behind success with both Arsenal and Germany for many years to come.
