Four players could leave RB Leipzig if they fail to qualify for the Champions League

Sport Bild reports that four key players could leave RB Leipzig if they fail to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season.

Leipzig are currently fourth in the Champions League and are fighting it out with Borussia Dortmund for what will likely be the final UCL spot unless Germany finishes ahead of England in the coefficient rankings. Failure to qualify for the Champions League could have a large impact on the current Leipzig squad.

Leipzig already faces a difficult challenge in trying to keep Xavi Simons on loan at the club for another season, and missing out on the Champions League will rule out any potential extension.

Dani Olmo will also likely leave. The 25-year-old has a release clause in his contract worth €60m this summer and has attracted interest from Premier League clubs. Another player who could make use of a release clause is Benjamin Seško, the Slovenian has a clause worth €50m and his agent believes it is crucial that Seško continues to play in the Champions League for his development.

Finally, Loïs Openda could also depart. Although he has a release clause in his contract worth €80m, this is only valid next summer. This means any potential sale would likely be a record sale for Leipzig, beating the €90m fee received for Joško Gvardiol last summer.
