Europa League Preview: Bayer Leverkusen vs Qarabag

After an eventful draw in the first leg, Bayer Leverkusen will welcome Qarabag on Thursday night as they look to progress to the quarter finals of the Europa League.

In the first leg Leverkusen came from 2-0 down to salvage a 2-2 draw on the night.

With just 20 minutes left of the match, it seemed that Xabi Alonso’s side were going to bring their unbeaten run this season to an end.

Florian Wirtz got his side back into the game before Patrik Schick then headed home the equalising goal in the 92nd minute.

Last week in the Bundesliga Leverkusen defeated Wolfsburg 2-0 with Nathan Tella and Florian Wirtz scoring the goals to keep them ten points clear at the top of the table.

Qarabag are currently unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and were strong favourites to lose the first leg however they have given themselves a real fighting chance for the second showdown.

They defeated Zira 3-1 in their last league fixture which is their 14th win from their last 15 matches in the Azerbajan Premier League.

They sit top of the league table and are a massive 24 points ahead of second place.
