Eric Dier explains how he enjoys being insulted by Arsenal fans

Last Tuesday, Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium by Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. However, in and amongst the tension of the game, insults being targeted towards Eric Dier could be heard from the Arsenal fans:

“Eric Dier, you’ll always be s*it.”

This is, of course, due to Dier’s history with Arsenal’s fierce rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. Nevertheless, when speaking to Bild, the Bayern defender remarked about how he enjoys the insults directed towards him from opposing fans:

“For me, that’s something I actually enjoy! I like rivalries like this in football; it’s completely normal, and I expected it. I enjoy it.”

On Wednesday evening, Der Rekordmeister are set to host Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. With Dier expected to start alongside Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt, it can be anticipated that the 5,000 travelling Arsenal supporters will be attempting to put off the Englishman yet again.

However, Thomas Tuchel has called upon the Bayern fans to get behind the side tonight, and with 70,000 home fans in attendance, there is hope that the Arsenal supporters will be silenced.
