Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch expected to be called up to the Germany squad for Euro 2024 while Mats Hummels will miss out

Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch is expected to be called up to the Germany squad meaning Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels will miss out on Euro 2024.

Koch was a part of the March international break squad as he returned to the national team from a three-year absence. With the expected announcement around Koch, that means Germany will have Nico Schlotterbeck, Jonathan Tah, Koch and more than likely Antonio Rüdiger in the squad there is no space for Hummels.

Bild also reports that Hummels will not be called up to the national team this summer, despite the Dortmund defender performing considerably better than Koch in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

Germany have already begun announcing names in the squad with Schlotterbeck, Tah, Aleksander Pavlovic, Manuel Neuer, Niclas Füllkrug and Chris Führich all being revealed in a variety of different manners as the DFB aims to avoid leaks.

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann is expected to announce his full squad for Euro 2024 on Thursday.
