Edin Terzić insists that Jadon Sancho has a bright future ahead of him

On January 11, 2024, Jadon Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season. With the Englishman’s career having failed to progress since departing the Westfalenstadion in 2021, a return to Dortmund seemed to be the perfect solution.

With BvB stumbling in the Bundesliga and having already faced elimination from the DFB-Pokal at the hands of Stuttgart, there was little downside to this from Dortmund’s perspective.

In reality, their season could only improve, and with the knockout stages of the Champions League awaiting them, Sancho would only add further quality to their chances of progressing into the latter stages of the tournament.

However, there were doubts about Sancho’s return. With Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Youssoufa Moukoko struggling for game time, the 24-year-old was only ever going to take game time away from Dortmund’s most promising youngsters.

Regardless, quite quickly, it appeared that his return was going to be a masterstroke. As recently covered by Get German Football News, Jadon Sancho’s time at Dortmund has been a remarkable success.

Nevertheless, not many people would have suggested that he would help inspire BvB to a Champions League final. With scintillating performances becoming a regular occurrence in Europe, question marks surrounding his future after the summer began to surface.

While it is not yet clear whether Dortmund will be able to financially afford a permanent move for the Englishman, their run to the Champions League final could help fund a potential move. However, speaking after the final whistle, Edin Terzić explained that even if Sancho fails to return to Dortmund next season, the 24-year-old still has a bright future ahead of him.

“I didn’t speak about the future because we’ve been speaking about the present. I am really happy that he is with us. Playing in a final in his hometown, it’s a very special moment for him.”

“You can feel the joy he receives and brings into the dressing room. I am very happy to work with Jadon. We don’t know yet what the future will bring. But for sure, it’s going to bring him another Champions League final.”
