Bundesliga Predictions | Round 26

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt

My match of the week is Dortmund against Frankfurt. Dortmund are winless in their last five Bundesliga games following a Champions League fixture. They have also not beaten a top six side yet this season. I don’t think that is going to change this weekend. Frankfurt will have rested legs after being off midweek after their Conference League exit. The Eagles also have been sneakily good this season and are still in the race for a top five finish and a possible Champions League qualification.

Manu’s Predictions:

Köln 0-2 RB Leipzig; Union Berlin 2-2 Werder Bremen; Wolfsburg 0-2 Augsburg; Mainz 1-1 Bochum; Heidenheim 2-1 Gladbach; Darmstadt 0-5 Bayern Munich; Hoffenheim 1-2 Stuttgart; Freiburg 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen; Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Union Berlin vs Werder Bremen

My game of the week has to be the intriguing clash between Union Berlin and Werder Bremen on Saturday. Both clubs started 2024 in terrific form, with Union pulling themselves out of the relegation zone and Bremen making an audacious attempt at grabbing a late European spot. However, the last three match days have seen both clubs pick up just two points between them. As such, this clash should see two sides desperate to get back to winning ways throw everything at claiming all three points. I suspect they may have to settle for a point apiece, but that shouldn’t stop this from being an excellent game of football.

Stefan’s Predictions:

Köln 1-2 RB Leipzig; Union Berlin 2-2 Werder Bremen; Wolfsburg 2-3 Augsburg; Mainz 1-1 Bochum; Heidenheim 2-1 Gladbach; Darmstadt 0-3 Bayern Munich; Hoffenheim 1-3 Stuttgart; Freiburg 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen; Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

Scores after MD25: Manu – 157, Stefan – 174
