Borussia Dortmund will join Bayern Munich at the 2025 Club World Cup

As reported by Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund are the second team from the Bundesliga to be confirmed for the 2025 Club World Cup.

BvB will join Bayern Munich and ten other European sides in the ‘new’ Club World Cup that will be hosted by the United States next summer. The competition will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025, and it will see 32 teams from across the globe compete to be crowned the champions of the world.

Due to RB Leipzig being dumped out of the Champions League on Wednesday evening by Real Madrid, Die Schwarzgelben have been able to earn their spot in the competition. This is because, since 2021, Dortmund have garnered better results in the Champions League compared to Die Roten Bullen.

According to the regulations, only two teams from a nation are allowed to compete in the tournament unless three sides from the same country win the Champions League over the four-year qualification period. This, therefore, means that England could have three participants if Arsenal win Europe’s greatest prize this season, as they will join Chelsea and Manchester City in the USA.

Even though the Club World Cup will not take place until 2025, qualification ends this season, and next year’s Champions League results will count for the 2029 competition. Consequently, Der Rekordmeister and Dortmund are the two clubs from Germany that will be participating in the event in 2025.
