Bayern Munich could be set to miss out on Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi

As reported via Abendzeitung München, Bayern Munich could be set to miss out on another head coach target, with Juventus considering an approach for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi.

Since it was announced that Thomas Tuchel will be departing the record champions at the end of the campaign, there has been considerable speculation about who the next Bayern head coach will be. However, in the six weeks that have followed, Der Rekordmeister are no closer to finding a successor.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso was the club’s number-one target from the start; however, the Spaniard has recently committed his future to the Werkself. This has left Bayern in a difficult situation, having seemingly put all their eggs in Alonso’s basket.

Nevertheless, Brighton’s head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, has also been on the club’s radar, with Max Eberl appreciating the Italian’s style of play. Bayern’s director of sport has also been reported to have made contact with De Zerbi in recent weeks, suggesting that a move for the 44-year-old was on the cards.

However, it is understood that Juventus now have their sights set on De Zerbi, with the head coach keen on a return to Italy. With a €15 million release clause in his contract in the summer, the Brighton head coach would be free to leave if it was activated.

Regardless, with significant interest in his services, Bayern will need to act quickly to avoid missing out on their new target. Otherwise, Der Rekordmeister will need to revert to Plan C.
