Bayer Leverkusen enquire about PSG’s Marco Asensio

Sky Germany report exclusively tonight that Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen have enquired about signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Asensio (28) in the last hours.

It would be a significant transfer coup for Bayer Leverkusen who recently confirmed the signing of Spanish forward Borja Iglesias on a six-month loan plus a purchase option.

Florian Plettenberg reports that talks have taken place to bring Asensio to the BayArena, but a transfer is difficult to realise. With just hours remaining of the transfer window remaining, this is one to watch as Patrick Berger further adds that the Spaniard may be open to leaving PSG.

Since joining PSG on a free transfer from Real Madrid last summer, Asensio has scored three and created one in seven Ligue 1 games, averaging a goal every 117 minutes, but did miss 12 games with a foot injury.

Bayer Leverkusen saw their gap at the top of the Bundesliga slip to just two points after being held to a 0-0 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening, despite dominating. This comes after Bayern Munich overcame Bavarian rivals Augsburg in the afternoon kick-off.
