An ex-Bayern Munich star could be set to succeed Thomas Tuchel?

As reported by Sky Germany, former Bayern Munich defender Martín Demichelis could be a possible candidate to take over from Thomas Tuchel.

In recent weeks, Der Rekordmiester have been rejected at every corner in their attempts to find their next head coach. Xabi Alonso has committed his future to recently crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, while Julian Nagelsmann has signed a new deal with the DFB, which will see him remain in charge of the German national team until the 2026 World Cup.

As well as this, Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has recently stated that his full focus is on the project at Villa Park, as he looks on the cusp of guiding the club into the Champions League. Therefore, Bayern have been forced to look elsewhere in the hunt for Tuchel’s successor.

Regardless, Demichelis, a four-time Bundesliga champion with Der Rekordmiester, could be an ideal replacement. The former Bayern defender is currently excelling at Argentinian giants River Plate, with the club sitting at the top of the Argentine Primera División as well as their Copa Libertadores group.

Having also won the domestic double last season, there is no doubt that Demichelis will soon be on his way to Europe. With Bayern low on options, they could think outside the box—in a similar manner to Leverkusen when they appointed Alonso—and elect to lure Demichelis to the Allianz Arena.
