Aleix Garcia could be brought in to provide depth to Bayer Leverkusen’s midfield

kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia as a potential depth option in midfield.

With the prospect of Champions League football next season, Leverkusen needs depth to be able to compete on all fronts next season, especially in midfield. The current trusted options in midfield are Granit Xhaka, Exequiel Palacios and Robert Andrich but a backup is needed for Xhaka who has played a lot of football this season.

That is where Garcia comes in. Leverkusen see the Spaniard as a good alternative to Xhaka due to his passing ability and ability to avoid the press. From a sporting perspective, this would help reduce the game time of Xhaka.

However, Garcia’s current contract at Girona expires in 2026 and he is likely to cost around €15-20m. This is a package that Leverkusen will be able to afford.

Garcia has played a key role in Girona’s unlikely title push in La Liga this season. The 26-year-old has played in all but one game for the Catalan side, scoring three and assisting six.
