Yann Sommer is willing to move to Bayern Munich

Yann Sommer is open to a move to Bayern Munich, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung.

As per the report, the Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper could see his career continuing in Munich. The newspaper explains that during a conversation before the turn of the year Sommer signalled to his employer that he would like to switch to FC Bayern at short notice.”

With six months remaining of his contract, it’s reported that Gladbach would be willing to let Sommer go under two conditions. These are that they received €5m in transfer fees and that a suitable replacement has been found.

Two names have been mentioned as per Sommer’s replacement. These are Australian number one Mathew Ryan from FC Copenhagen and Yvon Mvogo from FC Lorient.

The newspaper also states that Bayern would like clarity on the matter by January 6th at the latest.

Another option for Bayern Munich is Alexander Nübel, but the premature ending of his loan seems unlikely at this moment. Nübel wants assurances over his place at Bayern, but the No. 1 spot isn’t guaranteed once Neuer recovers from his leg break. Bayern officials have opened negotiations with AS Monaco to end the loan early, but the Bundesliga side would have to pay a compensation fee.
