According to Bild, Bayern Munich are already preparing for the eventual departure or separation from Thomas Tuchel and see Xabi Alonso as the number one candidate to replace Tuchel.
Everyone at Bayern are big fans of Alonso, especially Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who was key in bringing Alonso to Munich in 2014. The bosses are also appreciative of the Spaniard’s current work as well as personality and career.
It is suggested that it is only a matter of time before Alonso becomes Bayern Munich’s manager, but it is also entirely possible that he could end up one of his other former clubs such as Real Madrid.
Since taking over Leverkusen nearly a year ago, Alonso has transformed the team into one of the best performing teams in the Bundesliga leading die Werkself to the semi-finals of the Europa League. While the beginning of this season has seen Leverkusen improve massively where they are the only other team apart from Bayern to have a 100% record and the game on Friday will show about whether Leverkusen can compete with the defending champions.
