According to Sport Bild, the upcoming international break is crucial for Hansi Flick’s future as German national team coach.
If Germany produces similar displays against Japan and France as they did in the previous international break in June then it is likely that there will be a change of coach. In June, Germany failed to win any of their three friendlies against Ukraine, Poland and Colombia.
There are already names being linked as successors for Flick such as former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, ex-Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner and Matthias Sammer who is currently an advisor to the DFB and Borussia Dortmund are all potential options.
Since Germany’s exit from the World Cup at the group stages, there has not been a significant improvement in the team’s performance and with Germany hosting the European Championships next summer it is likely the DFB want to avoid an embarrassing performance from the host nation.
