Bild are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur have submitted a verbal offer worth €25 million verbal offer for Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié.
Tottenham have held a long-term interest in Hincapié as they look to boost their defensive options. Antonio Conte is also a big fan of the Ecuadorian and told Tottenham bosses back in December to sign the centre-back.
However, Leverkusen are not in a weak position when it comes to a deal as Hincapié is an important part of their defence as he has played as a centre-back as well as a left-back this season. If a deal were to happen, Leverkusen would have to find a replacement with only two days of the transfer window remaining.
It is also reported that Tottenham may try again for Hincapié in the summer, but will be met with interest from Chelsea and Arsenal as well.
Hincapié has played 20 times for Leverkusen this season starting 13 times in the league. He was also part of Ecuador’s team for the World Cup in Qatar where he played all three games.
