Thomas Tuchel will get the signings he wants in January

While Bayern Munich’s season so far has seemed fairly straightforward on paper, despite sitting second in the Bundesliga, constant injuries and a demanding schedule have certainly taken their toll on the Rekordmeister. Narrowly edging past Copenhagen and Galatasaray in the Champions League group stages, while being pushed all the way by Mainz in recent weeks, has suggested that further depth is required.

As previously reported, Bild indicated that the Bayern hierarchy are looking to add reinforcement to Thomas Tuchel’s side in January. However, this is now something that the honorary president, Uli Hoeneß, confirmed when speaking to Sky Germany:

“If we continue to be in three competitions, you have to analyse what is needed. Our coach gets everything he needs.”

With the German champions sitting comfortably clear at the top of their Champions League group, and with a second-round DFB-Pokal meeting against third-tier side Saarbrücken scheduled for Wednesday, it appears that Bayern should be in three competitions after Christmas. Therefore, as Bayern’s injury list continues to shorten, Tuchel can also look forward to the new year, when he can finally add a few more signings to his side.

It has been heavily reported that the Bayern head coach dreams of acquiring a number six, and it seems as though the 50-year-old will finally get his wish. This is after Hoeneß commented on how he is impressed with the way Tuchel has dealt with the obstacles placed in front of him this season:

“After initial difficulties, the coach, in particular, did a great job. To be so high up with a small squad shows the quality of the coach.”
