Tanguy Couliably to leave Stuttgart at the end of the season

Bild reports that VfB Stuttgart attacker Tanguy Coulibaly will leave the club in the summer when his contract expires.

Stuttgart have decided against renewing the contract of the 22-year-old due to disciplinary issues as well as his high demand for a wage that does not reflect his position in the squad. Coulibaly joined VfB in 2019 on a free transfer from PSG.

Schalke have previously shown interest in Coulibaly. They tried to sign the attacker in the winter but could not complete a deal due to their financial problems and a loan was the only option. Schalke could reignite their interest in the 22-year-old this summer.

Coulibaly has yet to start a game for Stuttgart this season having only played 10 times and scoring twice most recently in VfB’s comeback against Borussia Dortmund. The 22-year-old showed promise in his first two seasons in the Bundesliga but has slowly fallen out of favour with every Stuttgart manager this season.

Stuttgart currently sit 16th in the Bundesliga three points off of safety. Since Sebastian Hoeneß took over as Stuttgart manager they beat Bochum 3-2 and drew 3-3 with Borussia Dortmund as well as progressing to the DFB-Pokal semi-finals by beating Nürenberg.
