Fabrizio Romano reports that RB Leipzig have submitted an official bid for Feyenoord right-back Lutsharel Geertruida.
The negotiations on the deal are advancing as Leipzig hope the signing of Geertruida can be completed soon after the club also completes the signing of Fabio Carvalho on loan from Liverpool. Geertruida had been previously linked with Barcelona.
The 22-year-old is currently valued at €25m according to transfermarkt as he recently extended his contract at Feyenoord until 2025.
Geertruida played 41 times for Feyenoord last season as they won the Eredivisie and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League. The 22-year-old is a product of the Feyenoord Academy having been promoted to the first team in 2018.
The signing of the Dutch international likely indicates that Lukas Klostermann will leave the club in the summer. Geertruida is as versatile as Klostermann as he can play right-back as well as centre-back. While the 22-year-old can also be a replacement for Joško Gvardiol who is set to join Manchester City.
