Raphaël Guerreiro set for Bayern Munich medical

Raphaël Guerreiro will undergo his medical with Bayern Munich on Thursday, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The 29-year-old, who leaves Borussia Dortmund after seven years at the club, will sign a three-year deal with Bayern Munich until 2026 after rejecting BVB’s offer for an extension.

Guerreiro announced that he would be leaving Borussia Dortmund via Instagram. The Portugal international joined Die Schwarzgelben for €12m from French side Lorient in 2016. He was an integral player for Edin Terzic last season with 12 assists as Dortmund took the Bundesliga title race down to the final day of the season – the Meisterschale was heading to the Westfalenstadion for the first time since 2012, that was until Jamal Musiala scored an 89th minute winner for Bayern Munich against Köln.

With Bayern Munich’s decision against signing João Cancelo, the arrival of Guerreiro on a free transfer is an excellent pickup in today’s market. With an ability to also operate in midfield, unless he fails his medical, Guerreiro will be an asset to Bayern Munich in what proved to be an underwhelming campaign.
