Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Werder Bremen – Niclas Füllkrug to start, Niklas Süle on the bench

Borussia Dortmund host Werder Bremen at the Westfalenstadion on Friday night, just hours after the Germany national team arrive following their international games against the US and Mexico in America.

Germany’s trip to North America was met with criticism because of long-haul trip, changing time zones and the already packed schedule of European clubs, given that it’s also European football in midweek.

Dortmund trio Mats Hummels, Niklas Süle and Niclas Füllkrug all featured for Julian Nagelsmann’s side with Hummels and Füllkrug expected to start for BVB against Bremen on Friday.

Gregor Kobel will retain his place in goal while Kicker suggests that Nico Schlotterbeck with partner Hummels in central defence while Ramy Bensebaini will return to the starting lineup after serving a suspension.

Marcel Sabitzer should also return for the first time since September 16 after recovering from an adductor injury, which could see Salih Özcan drop to the bench. Felix Nmecha also remains an option.

Julian Brandt is also expected to return to Dortmund’s starting lineup in place of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who recently extended his contract and in attack, expect Füllkrug to again lead the line with the German now finding form with goals in successive Bundesliga games.
