Pellegrino Matarazzo on the verge of joining TSG Hoffenheim

Pellegrino Matarazzo is on the verge of becoming TSG Hoffenheim’s head coach, according to Kicker

Matarazzo has been one of the top candidates from the start and will shortly put pen to paper and sign for the club. The 45-year-old takes over from André Breitenreiter who was sacked last weekend following Hoffenheim’s 5-2 loss against fellow relegation rivals VfL Bochum.

As per the report, Matarazzo will sign early this week in order to take training sessions leading up to Hoffeheim’s match against Bayer Leverkusen this weekend.

Once a former assistant at Hoffenheim, the American-Italian will now return as head coach. It’s a sensible move for both parties. The former VfB Stuttgart manager already lives near Hoffenheim and comes with top-flight experience.

Hoffenheim are currently winless since the middle of October when they beat Schalke 3-0. They now find themselves 14th in the table, three points clear from relegation.
